Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre

Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Center (SORC) is the largest and oldest orangutan rehabilitation center in the world.
43 km² of protected land on the edge of the Kabili Sepilok Forest Reserve has been transformed into a rehabilitation site for orangutans.

Today, around 60 to 80 orangutans live independently in the reserve and around 25 orphaned orangutans are housed in the nurseries.
Babies are often taken during logging or land clearing or captured by poachers who slaughter adult monkeys to get to them. The Malaysian government is cracking down on this illegal trade by imposing prison sentences on anyone caught keeping them as pets.
To find out more and perhaps help them by making a donation in the form of a virtual adoption, visit their website: https://www.orangutan-appeal.org.uk
